Kenya Accountants and Secretaries Examinations Board (Kasneb) is an examination body for business studies in Kenya. The board’s examinations are written two times in a year – May/June and Nov/Dec.

The purpose of this website is to assist candidates to prepare and prepare well for these exams. The outline of each subject therefore follows the revised 2015 syllabus.

Board Examinations

The board manages 3 diploma examinations and 5 professional examinations. Our focus here is on the professional examinations, though some courses offered at the professional level may also be examined at the lower level. You may access the course materials by following the links below.

  1. Certified Public Accountants Examination
  2. Certified Secretaries Examination
  3. Certified Investment and Financial Analysts Examination
  4. Certified Credit Professionals Examination
  5. Certified Information and Communication Technologists Examination

Each of the above examinations has a total of 18 papers with a set of 3 per section. Sections are grouped into 3 parts/levels, with sections 1 & 2 forming Part 1 and so on. A candidate must write and pass a lower level before proceeding to the next.

Qualification Requirements

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination with an aggregate average of at least grade C+ (C plus) provided the applicant has obtained a minimum of grade C + (C plus) in both English and Mathematics or equivalent qualifications.
  • Kenya Advanced Certificate of Education (KACE) with at least TWO Principal passes provided that the applicant has credits in Mathematics and English at Kenya Certificate of Education (KCE) level or equivalent qualifications.
  • KASNEB technician, diploma or professional examination certificate.
  • A degree from a recognised university.
  • International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examination grade C in 6 papers with C in both English and Mathematics.
  • Such other certificates or diplomas as may be approved by KASNEB.
